CIS Week 6 - Privacy (Spy on your spouse with this mobile phone service)

Dear Students,

We have covered the topic of Privacy in Week 6.

We know how important privacy means to us and at the same time, we also like the ease of use and convenience of technology.

Read the article "Spy on your spouse with this mobile phone service" and post your comments to the following issues:

1. Discuss the pros and cons of the GPS service.
2. Do the services provided by the company infringe any privacy issues? If yes, what are the privacy issues?
3. Do you think it is right to infringe on a person’s privacy? Explain your answer.

CIS Week 4 - Reflections on Information Overload

Dear Students,

We have just completed our discussions on "Information Overload & Attention Deficiency". You have watched various video segments relating to Information Overload and multi-tasking, which leads to distraction and negative impacts on your studies/work performance.

You are to reflect on any 2 of these issues:
- Does being constantly online and multi-tasking affect my studies? Explain.

CIS Week 1 Reflections - Class P06

Dear Students (Class P06)

We have just completed the 1st week of lesson which covered issues like Information Literacy, Digital Divide and IDA's initiatives in bridging digital divide in Singapore.

Please reflect on what you have learnt this week and post your reflections on the following issues. Do keep your reflection succinct (i.e. brief and concise) and to the point, in not more than half a page.

Reflect on these issues:
(i) Is there a difference between Literacy and Information Literacy? Can a country achieve information literacy without its citizens attaining a basic level of literacy?

(ii) Digital Divide is said to occur only in the less well-off countries. Is this true? Does Digital Divide occur in a more prosperous place like Singapore?

(iii) Identify 2 basic measures that a government can do to alleviate digital divide.
